National Hazelnut Month

Posted by | Dana

Believe it or not, fall is just around the corner, which means it will soon be time to think about Thanksgiving turkey, pumpkin spice lattes, and other fall yumminess. For those of you who may be looking for that special something to make your holiday treats stand out this year, you will have plenty of inspiration from chefs and mixologists around the US as they prepare to celebrate the first ever National Hazelnut Month in September.

The hazelnut flavor has long been used for various culinary endeavors, and has become increasingly popular among chefs and foodies nationwide. This September, you will be able to reap the rewards of the hazelnut movement as fellow hazelnut lovers subtly and expertly weave this unique flavor into everything from pancakes to pasta to cocktails, and everything in between.

Executive Chef Paul Corsentino will be demonstrating the versatility of the hazelnut with a special menu, which includes items such as Hazelnut Fregola Risotto and Devil’s Food Cake with Chocolate and Frangelico Ganache. Chef Corsentino has also created two cocktails for National Hazelnut Month: The Hazel & Basil and the official signature cocktail, aptly named the Fall Basket, to go along with his special menu.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg (or hazelnut, if you will). Keep an eye out for more hazelnut infused treats from top restaurants, bars, and bakeries across the nation during the month of September. Whether you have a sweet or a salt tooth, or prefer your treats in liquid form, National Hazelnut Month will have something for everyone. One thing’s for certain – you’ll never look at hazelnuts the same.
